The whole region is serviced well by road, rail and air. Average flight times from the UK to the South of France are between one and a half hours from Gatwick and two and a half hours from Edinburgh (not including flight change times).
By road, via UK South Coast ferries or Eurotunnel, the region can be comfortably reached in two to three travelling days.
By rail, Eurotunnel links from Paris service all major Cities on the South Coast of France.
It is assumed that the vast majority of visitors to the Art Lover’s House will travel by air. There are two major airports servicing the region: Nice and Marseille, with a third - Toulon - proposed for a major increase in receiving flights from the UK over the next five years.
Var is two hours by road from Marseille, an hour and a quarter from Nice and - with the proposed increase in traffic to Toulon - less than an hour from this airport.
There are several low cost airlines currently flying to Marseille and Nice in addition to scheduled flights. Nice and Marseille airports can be reached either direct or by one flight change from eleven UK airports in nine cities.
